Friends of
Hartung Park

brand identity

Hartung Park is nestled on the border of Milwaukee and Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, and occupies the site of a former limestone quarry. This Milwaukee County Park is adorned with wildflower-covered hills, scenic walking trails, a tranquil pond, and a unique labyrinth. The Friends of Hartung Park organization hired me to design a logo that would be used for their correspondence, social media, and various features within the park.

Walking the labyrinth is a calming and meditative experience. It is the only labyrinth in a Milwaukee County Park, and serves as a defining characteristic. Because of this, it was decided that it should be featured in the park’s brand identity.

The color scheme draws direct inspiration from the park’s landscape, showcasing the pinkish-purple tones of the abundant wildflowers, and is contrasted with a vivid blue that echoes other elements such as the play area, accessible equipment, and expansive sky. This distinctive palette differentiates the brand from other park logos.
